Social Value Statement
Company Overview
At CWSI, social value is not treated as an abstract concept or a standalone corporate initiative; it is an integral part of how we operate as a responsible cyber security services provider and how we deliver value through public sector contracts. We recognise that organisations delivering services on behalf of the public sector have a duty to contribute positively to society, the economy and the environment, alongside delivering secure, high-quality outcomes for users. Our approach to social value is therefore grounded in practical action, clear governance and a commitment to continuous improvement.
As a specialist organisation operating in the cyber security and technology sector, we are acutely aware of the social challenges that intersect with our industry. These include persistent skills shortages, under representation of certain groups in technology roles, the wellbeing pressures associated with high-responsibility digital work, and the growing need to reduce environmental impact in line with national climate objectives. Our Social Value approach has been developed in response to these realities, ensuring that our commitments are relevant to our services, proportionate to our operating model and deliverable throughout the lifecycle of public sector contracts.
CWSI already has a strong foundation of evidenced social value activity in place. We maintain a clear governance framework supported by established policies, including Diversity & Inclusion, Environmental, ESG, Volunteering, Health & Safety and Flexible Working policies, all of which are actively maintained and reviewed. These policies provide accountability at organisational level and ensure that social value considerations are embedded into decision-making rather than treated as an afterthought.
Our commitment to people is demonstrated through tangible action. We invest significantly in workforce development, with a minimum commitment of 80 hours of training per employee per annum, supporting progression in a high-growth, skills-constrained sector.
We complement this with apprenticeships, early-career pathways and external mentoring initiatives that support individuals from under-represented and lower socioeconomic backgrounds into technology and cyber-related careers. These initiatives reflect our belief that long-term economic growth and resilience depend on widening access to opportunity and developing talent at all stages of the pipeline.
Wellbeing is another core pillar of our social value delivery. We provide access to comprehensive wellbeing support through Employee Assistance Programmes, mental health workshops, flexible working arrangements and structured engagement activities. These measures are designed to support physical, mental and emotional health, recognising the direct link between wellbeing, productivity and service quality. By fostering an inclusive and supportive working environment, we aim to retain skilled
professionals and maintain the resilience required to deliver critical services to public sector clients.
Environmental responsibility is addressed through practical operational decisions that reflect our digital first operating model. We have embedded environmental commitments within our ESG framework, adopted a remote-first approach to reduce travel emissions, transitioned our vehicle fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles, and ensured that all buildings are supplied with green energy. While we recognise that further work is required to formalise emissions baselines and long-term targets, these existing measures demonstrate that environmental considerations are already embedded in how we operate and we have started the process of counting and calculating our emissions consumption.
CWSI is committed to building on this foundation. We will continue to strengthen our social value delivery through improved measurement, targeted local engagement and the responsible development of new initiatives where gaps have been identified. By aligning our approach to the UK Government’s Social Value Model and working collaboratively with contracting authorities, stakeholders and communities, we aim not only to meet social value requirements but to continually improve the positive impact we create through the services we deliver.
