Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets. We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years 80 tCO2e by 2035. This is a reduction of 25%.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
At CWSI, our baseline total carbon footprint is 102.977 tCO₂e, with the vast majority of emissions arising from Scope 3 purchased goods and services and technology supply chains, rather than from energy-intensive premises, owned fleet operations or extensive business travel. With no Scope 1 emissions and relatively low Scope 2 emissions, our operating model as a digital-first cyber security services provider is inherently low carbon, supported by remote first delivery, green-energy-supplied buildings and a fully hybrid or electric vehicle fleet.
Our pathway to Net Zero by 2050 therefore focuses on targeted, proportionate interventions in the areas where we can achieve the greatest impact, including optimisation of cloud and IT services, continued
reduction of travel-related emissions, efficiency improvements across our operations, and progressive engagement with key suppliers to drive measurable reductions in Scope 3 emissions over time.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
Formal Carbon Baseline & Reduction Plan
Establish a verified Scope 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 carbon baseline and publish a
Carbon Reduction Plan with interim targets. This creates the foundation for all future
reductions and enables credible reporting in tenders and contracts.
Remote-First & Low-Carbon Travel Programme
Lock in remote delivery as default, with clear criteria for when travel is genuinely
required. Introduce rail-first and virtual-first travel policies to permanently reduce
travel emissions, which are one of the most controllable sources for CWSI.
Office Footprint & Energy Optimisation
Rationalise office space in line with hybrid working patterns and introduce energy
monitoring to reduce consumption. Strengthen existing green energy arrangements
by moving to fully verifiable renewable supply where not already in place.
Fleet Optimisation & Usage Reduction
Build on the existing hybrid and electric fleet by reducing mileage through smarter
scheduling, virtual attendance and clearer use-of-vehicle guidance. Focus on using
vehicles less, not just owning cleaner vehicles.
Green Cloud & IT Efficiency Review
Select and prioritise cloud and technology suppliers with strong renewable energy
credentials. Optimise workloads, storage and monitoring to reduce unnecessary
compute demand, which is a growing but often hidden emissions source.
Sustainable Procurement for Key Suppliers
Introduce a proportionate sustainable procurement standard for critical suppliers,
starting with basic carbon disclosures and improvement plans rather than hard
targets. This begins tackling Scope 3 emissions without overburdening the supply
chain.
Workforce Carbon Awareness & Behaviour Change
Deliver carbon awareness training for staff, linking everyday decisions (travel,
equipment use, remote working) to emissions impact. This helps embed reductions
into business-as-usual activity rather than one-off initiatives.
Declaration and Sign Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard1 and uses the appropriate
Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting2.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard3.
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
