Solving compliance challenges for a global coffee chain

The Client

A leading international coffeehouse chain, with over 3,400 outlets and 18,000 employees in 31 countries, which had just gone through a significant acquisition.

The Challenge

The organisation needed to rapidly modernise its fleet of ageing, in-store, and head office devices as they were approaching end-of-life and creating a compliance risk. The client also needed to implement a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) platform to meet new global compliance standards, streamline management across multiple device types and operating systems and be able to scale operations in multiple markets.

As the in-house IT team was already at capacity, they needed extra support to roll out and manage the new setup safely and at speed.

Key Challenges

  • Skills gap: The internal team needed extra hands-on experience to deliver the rollout of a global UEM solution.
  • Security: Strong controls were essential to protect data and meet compliance standards.
  • Speed: Devices needed replacing quickly, without disrupting day-to-day work
  • Scale: The new approach needed to work reliably across multiple global markets.

The Solution

CWSI implemented Microsoft’s Intune UEM solution through an integrated service that covered everything from deployment to ongoing management:

  • Advisory services for design that adhered to best-practice security baselines.
  • Technical services for seamless configuration, integration, and deployment.
  • Device rollout services to fast-track the refresh and onboarding process.
  • DeviceGuard managed service to monitor, support, and keep everything running securely. to provide ongoing proactive management, monitoring and expert support.

The Result

A fast, reliable transition to a secure and compliant modern endpoint environment, with zero disruption to day-to-day operations. The client now has a fully managed and future-ready device program in place to support future growth.

Key Outcomes

  • Over 4,000 devices replaced and onboarded across retail and corporate environments with
    no downtime to customer operations.
  • Full compliance with global security standards within 3 months, reducing device-related risk
    across multiple markets.
  • A repeatable global deployment framework that enables rapid expansion into new markets.
  • Improved employee access, performance, and confidence in using modern, secure devices.
  • Freed up the internal IT team by transferring ongoing management, updates, and monitoring to CWSI

Why CWSI

CWSI worked closely with the coffee company’s global IT team and parent organisation to balance speed, scale, and security. Together, we built a managed service around Microsoft’s security tools to keep the business running smoothly throughout the rollout and provide an efficient, scalable operating model.

“This project shows how modern endpoint management can drive both compliance and productivity. By combining Microsoft Intune with CWSI’s managed service expertise, we helped the client modernise thousands of devices securely, at speed, and without disruption — turning a compliance challenge into a foundation for future growth.”
