A significant change is scheduled for <strong>1 May 2025<\/strong>, when <strong>new purchases of Azure AD External Identities P1 and P2 SKUs will be discontinued<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-exactly-is-changing\">What Exactly Is Changing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective 1 May 2025, Microsoft will retire the Azure AD External Identities P1 and P2 SKUs for new purchases. However, this change does <strong>not<\/strong> signify the retirement of Azure AD B2C. Key capabilities and functionalities will remain intact, and users can continue to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create new Azure AD B2C tenants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Link these tenants to subscriptions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leverage all existing features, including custom policies and user flows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Azure AD B2C through at least May 2030. There will be no impact on service level agreements (SLAs), security updates, or compliance guarantees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, B2B collaboration and B2B direct connect capabilities are now part of the <strong>Microsoft Entra External ID<\/strong> portfolio. While rebranded, these features remain accessible within the same section of the Entra admin centre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-does-this-impact-current-azure-ad-b2c-users\">How Does This Impact Current Azure AD B2C Users?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For existing Azure AD B2C users, there is no immediate cause for concern. Microsoft has confirmed that access to current B2C environments will remain unaffected, and users can continue to create new tenants and utilise custom policies as usual. Existing licensing agreements will remain valid and fully supported. Additionally, Microsoft has committed to maintaining support for Azure AD B2C through at least the year 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:52px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Are These Changes Happening?<\/h2>\n<div style=\"height:14px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>This move signals a continued shift toward Microsoft\u2019s next-generation Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solution: <strong>Microsoft Entra External ID<\/strong>. Back at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/build.microsoft.com\/en-US\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Microsoft Build<\/a>&nbsp;in May 2023, Microsoft previewed its next-generation external identity platform, laying the groundwork for what is now Microsoft Entra External ID.
