How Blaud Helped Local Authority of Stichtse Vecht Migrate from MobileIron to Microsoft Intune

In a fast-changing digital landscape, local authority of Stichtse Vecht stands out for its progressive mindset. Curious, driven, and constantly evolving, it embraced hybrid working early on well before it became the norm. That openness to innovation triggered a broader rethink of its digital workplace strategy.

The transition from desktop PCs to laptops was already underway, and every employee had access to a personal smartphone. Yet, to truly support a modern, mobile workforce, local authority of Stichtse Vecht needed more than just hardware. It needed a device management solution that is secure, scalable, and future-ready. That’s where Blaud came in.

A Long-standing Collaboration Built on Trust

Mobile device management (MDM) has long played a central role in local authority of Stichtse Vecht’s IT strategy. MobileIron had long been the MDM solution of choice at, and Blaud had been supporting the environment for years, from consultancy to third-line support. The collaboration began when the authority’s previous MobileIron supplier exited the market, and Blaud stepped in as both a technical expert and trusted advisor.

“From the very beginning, Blaud promised exactly what we were looking for,” says Harry van der Hoef, Project Manager Information & Automation at local authority Stichtse Vecht. “Their proposal reflected a clear understanding of our needs. That gave us immediate confidence and resulted in a smooth and enjoyable partnership from day one.”

Laying the groundwork for a Secure Migration

In 2021, local authority of Stichtse Vecht made a strategic shift to Microsoft 365, a move aimed at modernising its digital workplace and embracing the flexibility of the cloud. This transformation naturally called for a review of their existing Mobile Device Management (MDM) setup. With Microsoft Intune included in their new licensing package, the decision to phase out MobileIron was both practical and forward-looking.

Before kicking off the migration, Blaud conducted a MobileIron Quickscan to assess and strengthen the current configuration. “We started by interviewing stakeholders across the organisation to understand their needs and expectations,” says Jesper Schmidt, Sales Director at Blaud. “That helped us compile a list of technical and functional requirements, which we then translated into detailed documentation that our EMM could use to start configuring Microsoft Endpoint Manager.”

This thorough groundwork laid the foundation for a well-informed and secure migration. By translating stakeholder input into a clearly defined technical roadmap, Blaud ensured the transition would not only meet organisational needs but also uphold the highest standards of mobile security.  “Managing and securing mobile devices remotely is a discipline of its own,” says Harry. “Blaud’s deep expertise gave us confidence that we were starting the migration from a secure, stable baseline. Their targeted recommendations helped reinforce our mobile environment and set the stage for a successful transition to Microsoft Intune.”

A Smooth Transition Backed by Training and Support

Migrating to a new MDM platform isn’t just a technical process, it’s an organisational shift that requires clear communication, strong guidance, and user confidence. To ensure the transition to Microsoft Intune would be both smooth and sustainable, Blaud designed a comprehensive training and support plan tailored to the needs of both system administrators and end users.

From technical documentation to hands-on guidance, Blaud ensured that every stakeholder felt prepared to adopt the new environment. The aim was to finalise testing with a pilot group, equip internal teams with the necessary knowledge, and then roll out Microsoft Endpoint Manager across the entire organisation in the first quarter of 2022.

“We’re not just switching platforms, we’re enabling a safer, more flexible way of working,” says Harry. “That shift requires more than good technology, it demands continued support. Blaud hasn’t just walked us through the implementation; they remain a trusted partner, helping us stay secure and responsive through ongoing maintenance and support. That peace of mind is truly invaluable.”

A Partner Who Sees The Bigger Picture

Thanks to this successful migration, local authority of Stichtse Vecht now manages its mobile devices through a centralised, secure platform that enables hybrid working and safeguards sensitive data, all without sacrificing usability or accessibility.

With Microsoft Intune fully deployed and Blaud continuing to provide expert support, the organisation is well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of public service in a digital-first world. But for Harry, what truly makes the difference isn’t just the technology, it’s the people behind it. “Blaud isn’t just a service provider, they’re a partner who actively thinks with us,” says Harry. “What truly sets them apart is their deep expertise and proactive mindset. They regularly check in to explore how we can strengthen our environment, always with our needs in mind, never with a sales pitch. And the fact that we’ve experienced zero incidents or disruptions to date says everything about the reliability and quality of their work.”
