BOOK A MEETING

Enabling a Flexible Work Culture at Ireland’s Leading Business Membership Organisation

Ibec is Ireland’s leading provider of employment law and industrial relations expertise, with 7,500 members, over 150 staff and offices in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Donegal.

Background

IBEC needed a solution to enable remote working for its employees, who travel frequently to meet members and streamline management across devices and employees in multiple locations. IBEC also wanted to adopt a Corporate Owned, Personally Enabled (COPE) approach with a clear separation of personal and private applications and data.

How we helped

IBEC had already decided on a tablet of choice for its employees. CWSI was selected as IBEC’s preferred partner, after extensive evaluation, to design a solution that would be compatible with the chosen device, incorporating both Enterprise Mobility Management from MobileIron and Enterprise File Sharing from Acronis.

MobileIron’s EMM capabilities enable IT to secure and manage mobile devices across multiple operating systems, providing secure corporate email, automatic device configuration, certificate-based security, and selective wipe of enterprise data for both corporate and user-owned devices.

Granular controls based on a variety of parameters such as device-type, device-ownership and employee role are available.

MobileIron integrates with IBEC’s backend enterprise IT platforms such as Active Directory and enables access to applications within a “secure container” which is password protected and encrypted.

Acronis Access governs file sharing, access management and version control so users can access their file shares from mobile devices, PCs or Macs, significantly improving end-user productivity while providing IT administrators with visibility, security and control.

The combined solution allowed for a clear separation between personal and business data, alleviating both employee privacy concerns and IT compliance concerns. Should an employee leave the company or lose a device, IT can now selectively wipe only the corporate data from a device.

IBEC IT administrators can manage the lifecycle of each device and its applications, from registration to retirement with appropriate security policies.

Results

The project has enabled all IBEC employees to work more productively and securely while away from the office, completing tasks on the move that used to have to wait until the employee returned to their desk.

Immediate benefits for employees include the ability to access and edit documents in the internal document library, access to update key company systems such as the CRM system and being able to use a range of business applications to do anything from recording delegate attendance at events to booking car parking spaces at the office to getting the latest news updates in real time.

The project has also enabled the IT team to be more responsive. Since the deployment IBEC have vastly improved the speed of replacement for broken or damaged devices – minimising employee downtime and improving employee satisfaction.

The benefits of this project have spread far beyond an initial IT requirement and the project was shortlisted for the Mobile Technology Project of the Year at the Tech Excellence Awards.

  • Productivity gains – secure access to company applications from anywhere
