White Paper
CWSI and Microsoft Protect Critical Data for One of the UK’s Largest Airports.
Background
One of the UK’s largest airports, with over 16 million passengers passing through each year, needed an intuitive solution to safeguard highly sensitive information and improve the user experience for its ground staff, HR and finance teams.
The airport has over 12,000 employees with the majority needing to be instantly reactive to passenger requests. Therefore, they required a reliable, secure, and portable source of information delivered through configured.
Challenges
Due to the nature of the industry it operates in, the airport required an intuitive and highly secure device management solution across a mixed estate of iOS, Android, and Windows 10 devices in order to safeguard highly sensitive information for its passengers and employees. The existing VMware infrastructure was no longer meeting the evolving needs of the airport and in-house IT skills were limited. CWSI were tasked with solving:
- Improving the user experience for employees across 450 devices in multiple departments including HR and finance.
- Head office staff needed to be able to work remotely with secure access to sensitive data.
- Alleviate the growing pressure on its internal IT team.
Solution
CWSI’s engineers took the time to understand the customer’s unique needs and worked closely with them to carry out in-depth evaluations on their existing technology infrastructure.
In order to mitigate identity and data security risks for the airport, CWSI implemented a secure cloud-based unified endpoint management (UEM) solution for 450 devices using Microsoft Intune technology. It tested the solution on a small group of employees, before designing a bespoke deployment aligned with best practice.
InTune was chosen due to its proven track record in legacy integrations, as well as cost effectiveness.
Results
Following the rollout, identity and information security risks have been almost entirely eradicated. Customer satisfaction rates have increased as passengers can avail of real-time assistance or information from ground staff who are on hand with cutting-edge integrated devices, creating a more efficient customer experience.
In addition, the solution has streamlined workflows for airport employees and productivity has increased as data is centrally accessible. User experience has improved and the integration of devices across multiple departments has boosted collaboration.
Communication capabilities have been enhanced both internally and externally, making the exchange of vital information and messages, including emergency messages, faster and more secure for ground staff including customer service and retail outlets.
It has also reduced the burden on the IT team, creating a safe and streamlined environment which enables the team to focus on their core tasks. CWSI’s robust IT and cyber security framework is flexible and fully scalable in line with business growth, and will enable future integration with the airport’s entire IT estate.
“Our customer needed a solution that would not only protect critical data, but consolidate its device infrastructure across the board. The airport serves a large volume of passengers and in turn, deals with their highly sensitive personal data, so it’s vital to ensure the highest levels of security and data protection are built in.
“CWSI delivered a scalable, integrated and intuitive solution which has underpinned the airport’s IT operations and amplified both the customer and employee experience. The solution is also enabling better collaboration between airport departments and has futureproofed its tech framework with the ability to scale at pace.”
